Trixie Camp 2002
Friday
After a fantastic country breakfast at Ferguson's Country Store (amazing biscuits and gravy!), we headed off to the Hurricane River Caves for a bit o' spelunking! Roby, our intrepid guide, even let us call him Slim! The cave was really beautiful, although so low in a few places that even I had to duck!
Afterwards, we headed off to the Tyler Bend Access Point of the Buffalo National River. We had a wonderful picnic, then people did as they pleased: hiked, waded and swam in the river, or just lazed around. I tried to wade for awhile, but BOY OH BOY were those rocks sharp! Plus, the MINNOWS were trying to GNAW OFF MY LEGS!
Dinner that night was at Lum's Mountain. Lum was a gracious host, resplendent in his magnificent "Hee Haw" overalls. I must paraphrase from Misty here: "Any man over the age of 4 who willingly wears Hee Haw overalls in public is A-okay with me!" After dinner, we were treated to an authentic "hillbilly" band, who performed songs like "Blue Moon of Kentucky", "Amazing Grace" and "Yer Cheatin' Heart". After much persuasian, our own Kyrie joined them for a number and astounded us with her vocal stylings!
Back at the cabins, we continued the tradition started by Eric last year and threw ourselves a Rager. We sang, we danced we toasted, we plotted....ask Mark about being serenaded by about 15 drunken women sometime! (Mark wisely pretended he was deaf. He was probably wishing he really WAS!)
